About

Our Story

Adam Wilson is a young, successful, locally-based custom homebuilder who has reached success quite early on. As a second-generation homebuilder, Adam Wilson, along with his drive and determination has worked hard to achieve his spot among San Antonio’s recognized luxury homebuilders.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Adam throughout high school and college worked at his father’s company in various departments, keen and willing to learn all aspects of the homebuilding business. From accounting, architecture, IT, construction, purchasing, marketing and sales, Adam worked in each area to understand the complete working’s of his father’s homebuilding company. From a very young age Adam knew where he wanted to be – at the top. In fact, Adam would see housing commercials on TV and would remark to his father that one day, the TV jingle would mention “Adam Wilson Homes”. After obtaining a business degree from Southern Methodist University in 1999, Adam began his career by taking a job as a superintendent, building luxury homes on a golf course in North Dallas.

Adam excelled in the industry and was responsible for opening new homebuilding divisions and expanding them for regional and national homebuilding companies in both Austin and San Antonio. Adam still had a dream of owning his own company and in 2008, Adam forged out on his own.

Recognizing the influx of Mexican National’s moving to San Antonio, Adam went to Mexico City to market his services with his plan designer. He met his first client in Mexico and was awarded the contract to build his first custom home in Canyon Springs, once again on the golf course. Adam proved early to his clients that he has what it takes to be successful, timely and notable. In the next few years, he built homes efficiently, with attention to detail and with a unique style to the San Antonio market. Adam has developed his company to be a “concierge-style” homebuilding company. “We like to be involved in the entire process of building a home, from the site selection, drawing the plans, designing the landscaping and even the pool design,” Wilson explains. Adam Wilson Homes has developed a process of 3 steps to get started building your home:

1. Homesite Selection

2. House Plans

3. Finish Selections

“Because of our involvement in all of these steps, our customers end up with a better home. There is cohesiveness to the project because we executed the customer’s vision from the beginning” Wilson describes. Once the project is complete we include a 3 year warranty on items normally only covered for one year by other builders. This is on top of the 10 year structural warranty also committed to our buyers.

Adam Wilson Custom Homes is also a regular participant in The Parade of Homes where he has built homes in such prestigious communities as The Dominion, Cibolo Canyons and Champions Ridge. This year’s parade home was in The Dominion and won six awards: Best Site Design, Best Landscaping, Best Front Elevation, Best Outdoor Entertaining Area, Best Kitchen and Best Master Suite. These awards are a reassurance that the product is well received by the judges and by the public.

Recently, Adam and his team have been focused on defining who they are by establishing their core values.

Adam Wilson Custom Homes Core Values:

-Do the right thing: Adam wants to empower his team to make decisions for the company. “I always want them to do what they think the right thing is, when dealing with suppliers, a laborer or our customers. If they are using this core value in their day to day work, I know they are representing us well.”

-Creativity: “I want our homes to be unique. If our team uses creativity we can achieve this. Creativity is also useful in solving problems, there is often more than one solution to an opportunity, being creative can help us define the best course of action.”

-Be prepared: “The staff and the firm should be thinking and looking forward to the steps ahead. Construction runs smoothly when we are prepared for the next step, planning now for the next few stages, not just what needs to be done today.”

-Make it fun: By doing all three aforementioned core values, work can then be fun for both the staff and the client as Adam would like the client to enjoy the process of building his/her dream home. By removing surprises, the whole experience can become very enjoyable for the client and the employees.

For such a young company, Adam has been highly recognized by local publications and has won awards on the state level. He has been ranked in various local magazines and business journals in recognition of his unique product design and won four Texas Star Awards from the Texas Association of Builders. He is involved with many local charities, but with his recent success, Adam is looking for ways to make an even bigger impact in the local community. Other than business, Adam is focused on raising his two children, Cole, eight and Brooke, six. “My children are the focus of my life.” Wilson says. He has coached his son’s basketball team for the last two seasons and looks forward to supporting both of them in all of their dreams. When I am not at work I am spending time with them, in the summer you are sure to find us at the pool.

At 38, Adam has plans to expand into the four major Texas markets. “I really love what I do, the pride associated with building someone’s home is very rewarding. One of my favorite parts of what I do is stepping back at the end of project and sharing our work with our customer and the community. I also love the challenge of creating something new and different, I never want to be predictable.”
