Home builders in San Antonio are seeing the market continue to recover as demand is increasing among potential homebuyers. Figures from Metrostudy show that over the 12 months beginning in Sept 30. 2012 builders started 7,792 new single family homes in San Antonio, a 14% increase from the year prior. Annual closings also rose over the last year by 5% to a total of 7306. The strong growth that we saw over the summer has continued to show during the fall quarter and as a result the San Antonio housing market is one of the healthiest and productive in the nation.
Due to this increased demand and a lack of recent development in the area, the supply of lots in San Antonio is dwindling and land prices are going to rise in the coming months until the lot supply is able to catch up with the market. There is currently only a 15.4 month supply in San Antonio. The market will adjust to this shortage but it may take some time. Despite this, interest rates are very low right now costs are only going to go up from here so despite the rising land costs the time is still ripe to build your new custom home.
